Photoshop work, Thresholding!

We all know my hate for photoshop...
And technology...
And photo editing...
But i wanted to try something a bit more new to me, which unfortunately involved all of the above, and may my best friend Laura be my witness to this; I was extremely close to screaming because the instructions and videos I was watching where on a different version of photoshop that I had... so I missed out giant chunks of information that I seriously needed.

(For a full explanation on what to do, I do suggest reading a step by step guide or watch a few videos on what to do. I won`t be giving a step by step guide, I`m only uploading the images of what I ended up making, I still don`t understand it fully).
This one was one of the first ones that I tried to make, At first I thought it looked like poop when I just had it thresholded. I thresholded the image first, and when you threshold an image (in case you haven`t seen it), it practically turns all of the image black, everything is shaded in with just tiny bits of black; you can change the amount of black that you want with this little scale that appears when you select thresholding.
So when when i had finally thresholded all of my images, I then went and made the remaining areas of white transparent so I could add colour in the background of them.
However it was my first time doing all of this, so i tried to get a few done as some good examples. But I had to rush a little bit since the laptop I was using at the time only had 10% battery left so i had to get them done quickly and then uploaded to Deviantart... It did end up dying and I then had to upload the rest of them when i got back from sixth form.

One of the best things I`ve done so far has to be the popart looking pattern repeats that are ridiculously easy to make. But because I`ve done the repeats out of the same image but just various colours, I now just have a folder full of loads of these thresholded images and the different coloured backdrops to go along with them.
Unfortunately, I`m not doing anything with pattern repeats (apart from the pill stuff) So these are just going to be another side thing that I can do. Hopefully I can start doing work like this in Bulk for Deviantart and for blogging.
Once again, I have been falling behind a bit with all of my blogging, It`s getting hard to stay on top of it all at the moment, as much as I wish I could keep up to date with everything on here and upload all of the work I do as I do it, it`s proving slightly difficult again.

everything should be busy again soon, Luckily enough I did this today and I`ve managed to upload them practically straight away; so that`s a plus side, but the down side to all of this is that I end up getting home super late cause I want to get more work done to show to you guys who read my bogs and for those on Deviantart.
I hope you enjoy these little Thresholded edits, they did take me a while to do... I must of been sat for well over an hour watching videos and reading step by step guides on how to make these and get the colouring in almost perfect place.

Thank for the messages and more favourites and Notes on Deviantart! Like always, It does mean a lot!

Photoshopping Lino Prints!

I thought that I had finally learnt how to use the scanner at my sixth form, and I was soooo bloody wrong about that. I completely forgot how to scan an image in, in colour. So i spent about an hour scanning in so much work for it then to not even come out in colour... Smart move.

So instead of letting everything go to waste, I tried to do some random odd bits with the Lino prints that I had scanned in.
First off, I tried to work over them with some little doodles, then I tried to collage them altogether and create a mish mash from all of the shades of greys that came in when I scanned them.
The weirdest thing that I tried was trying to do small random doodles over the top of them on Photoshop, now photoshop doesn`t agree with me at all and it didn`t even let me draw over my original picture in a colour. I`m not sure if i was pressing something wrong or if i didn`t select something before I tried to draw over the top.

The best thing I`ve managed to do involved great difficulty. I had to find the best looking Lino print, but it had to have less colour in the background; then I decided not to use bloody photoshop at all and I just began to use online photo editors to get everything done, It`s photogramio that I use normally; but to get the transparency I used Lunapic instead.
You basically just select the colour and Lunapic makes that colour transparent, which is quite simple and straight forward.
All I had to do then was make backgrounds that where the same size as my original image, wasn`t too difficult really. To be honest with you, it was all quite simple to do and none of it took to long, if anything it seemed so much easier from when I first started to do stuff like this in year 12.
If you want to see all of the Lino images that I out together then check them out on my Deviantart account: http://amywatkinson.deviantart.co.uk

Thank for all of the support so far, all of the messages that I`m getting really does mean a lot ^.^ I hope to hear more from you guys soon!
