Redbubble Products!

Click on the "shop option" to find the items that are
available at the moment!
Once again!
I`ve signed up to another site where I can show off my stuff, hopefully anyways. My friend Amelia in the year below me showed me this site where you can upload your designs and then they make them and send them off, then you get a percentage of the price... Basically just like Live Heroes, but the only thing is, that on this site It`s easier to upload designs in bulk and you can actually change the prices of your items. I wasn`t so sure at first about signing up since I`m already on Live Heroes, but looking at the design of the website and the navigation of the whole thing; it does seem a lot more professional looking and easier to use, also giving the user a lot more options rather than just upload and sell.

If you don`t fancy reading the whole blog post and want to get a look right now, then follow this link to my profile to see all of the products that are on this update!
http://www.redbubble.com/people/amywatkinson

I`m lucky I`ve got good friends in Art, because they suggest loads of different things for me to try out, and loads of different sites where I can help myself with promotions and getting my work out there, so yeah, this is another self-promotion thing I guess. Getting my work out there is still quite difficult to do though, as weird as that sounds because I`ve got so many accounts that everyone can follow. It`s getting people to notice you that`s the difficult part really, I can upload every single day and just get 3 views on each post, it`s that hard sometimes.

iPhone sizes range from 4s, to 6s.
I`m not sure if I prefer this website too the Live Heroes website, I`m not quite sure yet, I haven`t used it this much I`ve only just stated using it this morning actually! I quite like this site so far, it`s so much easier to navigate and upload designs in bulk; say if you have one design but you want to upload it onto, books, phone cases, shirts and stuff... It Comes up with a page, it has your chosen design on every product that you can sell and then you just through the products and click either "enable" or Disable" (or something like that). You can click on the items and move the designs or re-scale the designs, so the movement and placement of the designs aren`t as restricted as Live Heroes too.

Samsung sizes range from Galaxy
S3 to S5.
I`ve been messing around with it all morning now, Since I`ve had to have the day off since my lovely nephew has made me ill... again. His friend Mason was ill, so he`s been around Mason, Owens come home, and Owens been around me, made me ill, my boyfriend was looking after me, and now he`s ill. The circle of bacteria is lovely. So luckily, having a day off has actually given me the time to create an account and have a mess around with the site... Thanks Owen!

The designs that I`ve uploaded so far are actually just colour splash designs; It`s when I drip loads of inks on a table, spray a bit of water over the top of them and then place paper over the top to print all of the colours, then I`ve scanned them and changed the brightness and contrast balance just so the colours looks a bit better. I think there`s a much better range of products to choose from on here, and it`s ridiculously easy to upload the same design on to multiple products, instead of having to do them all separately like on Live Heroes. With designs, I have no idea as to where to start with designing bits for the site, I had the same problem when I signed up to live heroes since I didn`t quite know as to what kind of designs people would want to see. With this site, I could actually use a lot more photography of nature on the phone cases and stuff, if you know what I mean, on Live heroes nothing really looked right on the phone cases, I`m not quite sure why, but to me they didn`t look right. They immediately look wayyyy better on here.

With the Spiral Notebooks, you can
have either Ruled Lines or Graph
paper inside of them.
Another thing that I immediately fell in love with was the notebooks, and journals on here, it was just so much easier to place the design on the books and the final look was just adorable, well I thought it was anyway. Along with all of the designs you see here, I`ve also made just one hardback Journal; I think I`ll need some more classier looking designs to go on those, or just simple cute looking things with white backdrops... Clean and professional looking stuff I guess!
I`m not suite sure If I`m going to do anything with clothing at the moment, there are options for clothing, not as many as Live heroes but then again I would probably never wear half of the stuff from Live heroes, just not my kind of thing. So this site is seriously ideal for me, easy navigation system, dumbed down instructions that you can actually understand, the items and the site look wayyy more professional and people who buy from there get to write reviews on the final product that they`ve received so you can get a good idea as to what the final thing will be like or if it`s good quality.
That`s one of the downsides to these kind of things, you never know what someone is going to think of the final thing if you`ve never seen it yourself so that`s always a worry.
if anyone does ever buy anything with my designs on, then I would seriously love to see either pictures of the finished thing or just your general opinion on the product you`ve received. I`m not sure if I should order one myself too, just so I`ve got my own design on a notebook and I can show it to people and be like "yeah, it`s my design on my notebook and you can have one if you`re willing to pay." (All in a sarcastic tone too).

HOWEVER, the prices seen above are different since I get discount on the items... I think anyways, as soon as I log out and look back at the designs they do all come up at different prices and are slightly more expensive, so I do apologize for that!

Small Observations!

As we would of all hopefully gathered by now, as I say it all of the time, I hate observational drawings... Like seriously hate them and everything about them.

It took me a while to get a good few of them together, and to be honest, I don`t think they are all that good compared to everyone else`s drawings at the moment. Most of the class are yet to even start an observational drawing and we`re about a month into the project now. I`ve been trying to avoid doing them by working on other small bits here and there, and also getting my sketchbook work up to date. At the moment I`ve got absolutely nothing else to go in my sketchbook, just these drawings on this blog post are all that`s left to be documented at the moment.

There`s quite a bit of artist research in there at the moment too; Hannah Sykes, Chris Jordan, Rosamond Purcell and Meg Adamson, there`s quite a few more pages but I can`t recall the names to save my life! I`ve been trying to get some artist inspired work done aswell, but I`ve still got a few more bits of work to do for that before I can show everyone, It`s mainly Hannah that I`ve got left to do at the moment. She does quite intricate designs and a bit of dot work, so I`ve just got to have a bit more patience to get them all finished; after I`ve done them, I`ve got no idea as to what I`m going to do with them actually... I could always use them as Emulsion print backgrounds for layering work, I`ll find something for them eventually, I hope.

At the moment I`m getting tired of just drawing flowers and leaves, and I need a good source of subject matter to keep me going. I`ve found a collection of shells amongst my art equipment, So they've come in handy for one drawing at least. If anything, I want to find more materials as subject matter. An initial idea I did have was to produce plastic fusion work and then draw from those, but it`s getting them made and then having to go back and draw them again when I initially wanted to get all of the drawing out of the way.

At least I`ve got some of out of the way and put to one side. However, last time during the exam unit, I was one mark off the A grade since the grade boundary got moved up by one mark; to ensure that I get the A grade this time around, I have to get plenty of observational drawing work finished and at a good standard... At the moment, they aren`t at the best standard they could be so I`m going to have to go back over them soon and work on them a bit more.

I`m not suite sure what to work on next, I want to try and get some small illustrations done but I`m not sure as to what I could possibly illustrate since my project is on the Decay of nature; I was thinking different materials in the background and then inks and drawings over the top to illustrate man made and wasted materials... Not quite sure about that one. Also watercolour drawings with fineliner over the top for detail, but then again it is pretty basic and I could always link it into the Illustration idea.

A new subject matter is definitely needed if I want to get more done, and I want to move off of the drawing part now and perhaps start something more 3D and more challenging. The main thing is that I seriously need to start getting more exam preparation finished, it takes a lot of time to get all of the preparation work done for the exam period, and I`ve got a three day long exam so I`m going to be screwed if I only have enough preparation done for the first day of exams.

There`s going to be a lot of plastic and wire work coming up soon, if you want all of the latest updates then It`s best to follow the links to deviantart where all of my current work has been uploaded. Keep on watching this space for some more work and new stuff that I`ve never tried out before!

Lastly, I wanted to say a big thank you to those who also have deviantart and have begun to read the blog, and those people who`ve sent questions in about my work on facebook! It`s good to see support from you guys and it`s much appreciated!
I`ll see you all in the next update!

Scanning This Week!

The past week has ben pretty terrible for m actually, I`ll be writing it up on my live diary blog later on today. It`s been busy and quit upsetting and I walking out of sixth form twice and having a day off because of it.

So I haven`t really had enough time to scan work in and talk about my newest project, I swear that`ll I`ll get there soon, it`s just been a strange week for me so far and I haven`t really had time to scan everything through properly. I`ve got some artist inspired designs finished, a few watercolour and fineliner drawings and I`m still working on a series of observational drawings and a few more fineliner ones. My sketchbook is practically finished for now and I might even scan a few pages of that in.

It`ll take some time but I`ll update again soon!

Quick Flower drawings!

I`m struggling already with my newest project, Obviously I`ve got a decent amount of photography done and I`ve started off with some observational fineliner drawings and pencil drawings (some still aren`t complete yet). But finding a good source for drawing and actually getting a good drawing done is proving to be a bit awkward at the moment since It`s hard to find naturally dying flowers as everything is growing for spring at the moment.

I`ve been trying to find new things to draw and ~I`ve been trying to find a decent variety instead of just plain flowers with black fineliners and It`s starting to become very awkward now since that is all my work contains at the moment. So right now I`m kind of hunting around for something else to be drawing and something else to be working on instead of bloody flowers all of the time.

So I have to keep on thinking back over, what is the decay of nature? What else can I relate the decay too, I was originally thinking of buildings and things that we abandon and leave to waste, which is where I got the building idea from. However, finding abandoned buildings is getting hard now since everywhere I go has "NO TRESSPASSING" symbols around them, so it`s getting a bit awkward and difficult to find somewhere that  can legally go to take pictures or sketch something.

I`ve got some ideas in mind at the moment, not ideas about where to break in to an abandoned building, but some ideas as to what I could possibly begin to draw and print, well hopefully print anyways. From my photography close ups, I need to begin picking out different bits that I can piece together and then draw, because at the moment I`ve got really large scale leaves and then a pile of moss and twigs, so everything needs to be pieced together to create a perfect piece to draw from or something that I can trace and then use fineliner to create something to print. It`s at the point where I have no idea as to what I should be doing, it gets like this with everything single project I do and It`s come down to it once again.

It happens to almost every art student though, you should all know the struggle by now and obviously my struggle, because I`m absolutely terrible for it at the moment. I was like it at the end of my last project when I had nothing to do, and now I`ve been given work to do  have no idea as to what to do... I`m a pretty awkward person when you think about it.

As always, `m hoping that I get there eventually, I did bring a hot glue gun home so hopefully I can et some sort of 3D work finished in the net few days aswell.
However, if I do get some 3D work done before I head back to sixth form, I should be able to begin some final piece preparation work that will go towards my final piece for this exam, and this time around, the exam is going to be 3 days long instead of 2 days.

I hope everyone said goodbye to the hair!
It`s a lot shorter now and all I`ve
got left to do now is dye it back to brown!

Negative Space Drawings!

A simple branch with two leaves.
So here`s something slightly new...

I think we may or may not have gathered that I hate observational drawings, so here we go, I BLOODY HATE THEM! Since no one wants to do them right now, the teachers have come up with a compromise; we don`t have to do a pencil observational drawing but we are aloud to get some other form of drawing done or at least started. Of course, my head starting racing as soon as we got given the project brief and I knew I wanted to start with something that I hadn`t tried out before, and here`s one of them.

Negative space drawing is quite strange actually, well I think it`s strange anyways. It`s not strange in the way that it`s hard to do (which it isn`t), or that you can`t have much detail, but mainly the way that the objects take shape even with random squiggles and stuff around the shape, quite odd to me. But then again, I might find it odd since I love to just fill pages either with colour or black ink, which is usually my style of working... So even something this different was actually quite different for me to start off with, as odd as that sounds.

You basically just have to have a simple outline of an object that you want to work on. Then the way I started mine off, was to have a thick bold outline of the image, and then start shading; the idea is to start off with darker tones around the edges of the image, and to then blend them out into the white, so basic shading really.
The only problem that I have at the moment with the finished look of them, is that they probably need to be a bit darker and take longer to blend out into the white, and the fact that there`s too much white also puts me off some what. I might get some more done on black paper instead, but use a white biro around the edges instead, just to show that I`ve tried out another way of making a Negative Space drawing. I do quite like the finished look actually, the fact that there`s just no detail makes it easy on the eye.

What I`m going to do next with them...
God bloody knows at the moment, I`m kind of lost for ideas and I`m currently looking at a few more artists to give me some sort of inspiration and ideas for this project. I have thought about getting rid of the white areas with a craft knife and placing an image behind them so you can see through to dead plants of grass or something along the lines of that. Also, I need some sort of more complicated design to do this from, they seem to plain and too empty when I just do simple designs like this, so a bigger range of more complicated designs is a MUST have.

This week, I should also be uploading some fineliner drawings and some observational flower work from one of my sketchbooks! I`ll pan them out over the course of next week since I have the week off.

Also, say goodbye to the Purple
hair!

Third Project, Photography Session!

To kick start the project... I completely forgot about drawing actually, I went straight towards the photography route instead.

So David is doing a pretty creepy project this time, It`s all about the Transformations of urban Myths and Creepypasta kind of stuff. So he naturally wanted to go somewhere creepy-ish to go and do a photography session.
The only creepy-ish place that we could think of is actually an abandoned theme park, that could of possibly got us arrested actually... Luckily that didn`t happen and if it did, then I would be bloody screwed!

For starts, we had to walk for about an hour to get to this place, it`s called American Adventure and it closed down ages ago. I used to go there all of the time when I was younger but had completely forgotten about how big the site actually was. Everything has been knocked down and removed now, and you can still find some of the really creepy images on Google. The whole place is still fenced off, hence why if you get caught you can get arrested.

Just to clarify, we didn`t actually go in, we wanted to go in just so we could get some awesome creepy looking photos and then get out. There was a part of the fence that was completely torn down and people used to get in and muck around in there quite a bit, I just wanted to walk around the bloody lake! But yeah, we never did get the chance to get in to the actual place, but there`s still loads of pictures on google of what it looked like when there where still a few things there, but obviously I`m not going to use those images, I want my own!

The main idea was for David to get some really creepy looking pictures done for his project, and then for me to get images of nature dying and decaying naturally by itself. We are quite lucky since there is a public footpath that takes you down to the old American Adventure car park, and if you walk down the car park, there`s a footpath that takes you all the way around the site of American Adventure, but it takes a while to walk around. The whole footpath was surrounded by trees and bushes, so I could of gotten some good close ups of leaves and stuff if I wanted too. Instead... I went behind all of the bushes and trees, made my way down to a swampy bit and then started to get some photography work done down there. It was quite interesting to do actually, for starts, I felt like a big kid again; I used to climb trees and go for walks on the park and stuff when we first moved into our current house, so yeah, doing this little photography trip with David just made me feel like a big kid and I wouldn`t stop messing around whilst we where doing it.

It was really fun to do, I haven`t done photography like this before where you have to work together to get the best possible outcomes and I really enjoyed it. I felt like I was annoying David just a tiny bit though since I was dancing around and climbing through bushes all because I saw an interesting leaf. I`m looking forward to doing more stuff like the with David, the only problem is... I annoy him quite a bit!

Over all, there are 23 pictures that I took for myself and then David took about 26 photos. So as you may of guessed, I`m not going to upload 20+ photos on the blog. So most of the images will be on Deviantart so if you follow the link below you`ll be able to find the majority of them over there, I haven`t uploaded them all in one go yet, so the rest will be up over the next few days since I didn`t want to just bombard Deviantart art with tons of photos.
Keep on checking over the next few days to see the latest photography images and hopefully, some scanned in sketches that I`ve been doing!

New Project! Truth, The Decay Of Nature

If you haven`t seen by now, on the Live Diary Blog that is, I`ve recently started my new project and my last project at sixth form.

this time, we actually got a decent project for once! we where given the choice of three different words; Truth, Fantasy or Fiction. For starts, I`ve been thinking about what I could possible do for the past few months and I just needed to re-ward the theme. So, I`ll be doing Truth, The Decay Of Nature for my project.

I originally wanted it to be quite a controversial project, about how humans damage the planet that we live in. But since that could cover so many different topics, stories and situations that we put ourselves in. I would probably end up doing tons and tons of research, with then just plain drawings of dying flowers or something, so I really, I ought to just stick to the Decay of nature as a whole really. Dying flowers, seasons and the decay of the things around us that we miss everyday should just be enough to get me going for this project. I`ve already come up with a few ideas for my final piece, perhaps a series of boards with different stages of decay and different colour schemes foe each one, I still have until May to get everything ready for my three day long exam... Which I`m not quite looking forward too, three days of just exam work. I`m going to have to start early and find some wood to use. Along with all of that, I still need to get my experimentation work finished whilst getting all of the preparation together too.

I`d say the next week is going to be quite busy, unfortunately I haven`t gotten that many drawings done to show everyone. I`m going to scan some work in, but they`re mainly flower drawings that I`ve done in one of my empty sketchbooks.
Next week, I won`t be at sixth form, and I might be at Shed2Studios with Dawn Turner again for a few days during that week. I`m lucky I guess, I get to work with Anna Roebuck and Dawn Turner!
Looking forward to this new project!
